Planet Notion interview Studio Africa talent Laurence Chauvin Buthaud of Laurence Airline
PN: How do you think the world of fashion is changing with regards to ethics?
LA: Being ethically “conscious” has lately become a trend and a marketing fad but also it is a good thing because consumers are more keen on buying products with a soul, a true history behind them. In an era of the mass market, genuine craftsmanship seems to stand out. Awareness of the issues of production and manufacturing practices will hopefully result in more human and environmentally respectful apparels.
PN: Why did you decide to get involved in the Studio Africa project?
LA:Helen Jennings from Arise introduced me to Mad London who contacted me to be part of the Diesel+Edun campaign. The Diesel+Edun project gathered an incredible casting which was mixing different talents, and a highly creative team from different countries and continents. It was really inspiring to be in that environment and I believe that projects that involve Africa in a truly honest and respectful way are to be supported.
