Danai Gurira in Mother of George (2013) dir. Andrew Dosunmu
Andrew Dosunmu is a photographer and filmmaker who splits his time between Lagos and New York.  His second feature film Mother of George (2013) is set for a 13 September release in the US (spoiler: it’s excellent).

Mother of George is the story of Adenike (Danai Gurira), who has come to the U.S. to join her fiancee Ayodele (Isaach de Bankolé), a restaurant-owner in Brooklyn. Charting her shift from hopeful arrivant into a woman determined to hold on to the traditions and values of home by any means necessary, the film adds to a growing body of émigre stories by artists negotiating life in the U.S. (via)

We’ve featured Dosunmu’s close collaborator Mobolaji Dawodu on Studio Africa before, check out his beautiful work
